I was very fortunate to be able to attend another raw vegan potluck in the area. This particular potluck in Mesa has been going on for over 12 YEARS, and this gathering was no different from the amazing atmospheres usually created by like-minded people.
There are varying degrees of ‘raw’ foodists here. Some are just interested, some are experienced, simple eaters, and the majority are just good-natured folk who love healthy, delicious food and great company.
This potluck, however, was a very special occasion because Bernando LaPollo celebrated his 111th Birthday!!!
Yes, you read that right. He’s 111 years young, is on NO medications, has only eaten cooked food 1-2 times in his life, loves God, can walk and stand when he wants, stays up late talking animatedly to people, and swears his success comes from these FOUR THINGS:
1) Love & Live for God
2) Eat Simply – Raw foods (lots of veggies!)
3) Get great rest – lots of sleep
4) Stay away from Women. (haha! – he admits to failing on the 4th rule)
But these are his 4 tips to live long. The Raw Foods are Key! Luckily he was raised in a family that has been raw for generations, so he most likely has strong constitution and DNA.
And here’s a picture of a Raw Chocolate Banana Crème Pie I created
It won out of HUNDREDS of different dishes! I call it my ‘What’s in my Kitchen Pie’ because I didn’t go shopping beforehand.
The crust is literally a combination of chia seeds, flax, almonds, cacao, and xylitol.
The Filling is Irish Moss, Xylitol, Vanilla Sunwarrior Protein Powder, Banana, and a little bit of Coconut Oil.
The Top is an equal part combination of cacao, xylitol, and coconut oil – and it’s sprinkled with cacao nibs.
Apparently it didn’t matter I didn’t have many ingredients on hand –they still loved it!
Do you aspire to live to a long age? It seems culture today makes it seem impossible. I’ll tell you right now, though, you CAN change your genetic expression through clean eating – it’s never too late!
Much Love & Health
