{Raw, Vegan} Banana Split (!)

I sit here enthused and absolutely glowing with elation. Why? Well for one, I finallybloomforlife

received my new camera (after my DSLR Nikon broke), and am so happy to be taking glamorous photos once again for this blog.

I mean, you can’t have a food blog without some scrumptious pictures that inspire people to make the easy and yummy recipes themselves, right? And luckily, we’re about to start off this marathon of healthy, delicious, and easy-to-make recipes with a winner of them all.

Traditional ‘ice cream’ is loved by everyone. But unfortunately it’s filled with saturated fats, unhealthy fillers, and often hormones from commercially-raised cows. Not to mention, pasteurized dairy is one of the most unhealthy foods on the planet for humans. Don’t just take my word for it, read about it here.

Well by now, you’re likely a little bummed out. But don’t worry – because you can create the EASIEST and tastiest raw, vegan ice cream with one ingredient: Bananas!

Spotted, ripe, and abundant in Costa Rica, there’s nothing better to cool off with on a hot day than this treat…and soon for most people in the States – this will also offer relief as the weather heats up.

So what are you waiting for? Get your high-speed processor, blender, or masticating juicer out and make this yummy banana split!

You can do only one type if you like, or you can do all three flavors like I did to treat my family here at Farm of Life.

Raw Banana Ice Cream

{Raw, Vegan} Banana Ice Cream

Cool off with this delectable ice cream alternative made from Bananas!
Ingredients
  • (Vanilla)
  • 4-5 Frozen Bananas
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Tiny dash of Sea Salt
  • 1-2 Bananas
  • Chocolate (2 tsp Raw Cacao)
  • or
  • Strawberry (5-6 Strawberries)
Instructions
  1. In a high-speed blender or food processor, mix bananas and optional ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  2. Scoop three servings on a split banana, and mix with chocolate sauce (recipe below).
If you’re going to make all three, begin with enough for three kinds, and make all three vanilla.

Then separate into two batches, and make your strawberry and chocolate. Freeze in separate containers until you assemble your banana split.

Chocolate Sauce

A delectable chocolate sauce for all your drizzling needs.
Ingredients
  • ¼ Cup Agave
  • ¼ Cup Melted Coconut Oil
  • ¼ Cup Raw Cacao Powder
Instructions
  1. Stir all ingredients in a small bowl until well-combined.
  2. Drizzle over your banana split and enjoy!
Notes
This will harden once you store it in a tubaware container in the fridge or freezer. It can be thawed for other delicious desserts - like the {raw, vegan} Snickers!
 

Once you’re ready to make your split, slice a banana length-ways.

Scoop three heaping servings down the middle.

And then drizzle your sauce on top. It should harden in a matter of seconds.
